The photos I want to create are able to show more of a room as if you’re standing in it. Also, I’m curious if such a zoom or lens or whatever is available on a disposable camera. If this is not available, what settings are common on a normal digital camera or what is a relatively inexpensive camera I can buy to get this effect? The pictures don’t have to be the highest quality, but they do need to have this “zoomed out” effect. Thanks

It’s not the camera, it’s the lens. You need a wide-angle lens, between 35 and 28 mm
it might be a wide angle lens or you might be looking for a fish eye lens which gives you that kind of curved look in the photo
It’s a wide angle or fish eye lens. Which would then require you to have a SLR. As you can buy wide angle adapters for high end point and shoot. It’s best to get this type of picture using a DSLR.
UWA (ultra wide angel) lense used for it.
Use a 10-22 mm lense……You can easily get the desired effect.
You need a wide angle lens. If you are using one of the cropped sensor DSLR’s then a 10-22mm or 12-24mm lens will work fine. If you are using a 35mm or full frame digital then a lens in the 17-40mm range will be good. There is no disposible camera that can do this. As far as a point and shoot cameras go. Set it to the widest setting (no zoom) and see what you get. There are wide angle adapters for some advanced point and shoots if the shots are not wide enough.
As other people have mentioned, these are typically taken with an ultra-wide-angle or fisheye lens. Neither of those types of lenses is typically available on a disposable camera, or on inexpensive digital cameras.
One thing you can do (depending on the contents of the room) is a “stitched” panorama. This requires special software, which you can download for free (Google panotools), but you can use any digital camera for the images.
There are panoramic dosposable cameras which might do the trick. If not here’s another solution:
Take several pics of the room from one point. The pics should be overlapping – (quite a lot) and then put them together on the computer with stitching software. There are quite a few software products around which can do the trick. One would be “autostitch” but there are more to be found on the web.
This kind of software is used to produce panoramic pictures from single photos. You can even make 360° panoramas with some of them.
You can either scan prints and stitch them together or use digital pictures.
Using a tripod or a solid stand for the camera is helpful.
I’m not sure what type of camera you have. But some cheaper digital
camera’s have a panorama setting. For other types I suggest a wide lens.
